Dental Implants: What to Expect

A missing tooth does not mean compromising on your smile or chewing ability. Dental implants are a long-term option that can replace a missing tooth and closely mimic the look and function of a natural tooth.

What does the process involve?

1. Consultation & Planning
The dentist evaluates your teeth, gums, bone and overall oral health (necessary blood tests) X-rays and CBCT scans are taken to plan the procedure.

2. Implant Placement
A small titanium implant is placed into the jawbone under anaesthesia, where it acts as an artificial tooth root. Sutures are given which are removed 1 week post procedure

3. Healing Period
The implant needs time to bond with the surrounding bone. This process is called osseointegration. We wait for around 3-5 months approx after implant placement

4. Crown Placement
Once the implant has healed adequately, a custom-made dental crown is attached to restore the appearance and function of the missing tooth.

The result? A strong, natural-looking replacement that can help you smile, speak and chew comfortably.

Remember, every implant case is different. A proper dental examination and personalised treatment plan are essential before starting treatment.

Why choose a dental implant?

Unlike a traditional bridge, an implant can replace a missing tooth without requiring the neighbouring teeth to be reduced.

Better Bone Support- Implants help maintain the jawbone around the missing tooth, unlike conventional bridges and denture.

With proper oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups, implants can provide a durable, natural-looking solution. However, adequate bone support and healthy gums are important for successful treatment.
