DENTAL EMERGENCIES IN CHILDREN!!

 CARE FOR ONE’S BABY TEETH STARTS RIGHT AWAY FROM THE AGE OF SIX MONTHS WHEN THE FIRST TOOTH ERUPTS IN THE ORAL CAVITY TILL THE SHREDDING OF YOUR MILK TEETH.

 

ACCIDENTAL FALL OF THE MILK TEETH- To care for your baby teeth is a resounding yes!!While playing, an accidental fall might occur resulting in complete fall of the tooth from the socket. Instead of panicking, look out for the broken piece and if it’s in a clean condition try to redirect it back in the socket and bite on the gauze or a clean piece of cloth. If one is unable to fix it by himself, make sure the tooth is taken to the dentist in a container containing small amount of milk/saline/water and lastly if nothing above all is feasible, keep it under your tongue. By doing this it prevents the integrity of the tooth and ligaments around.
                                                   

FRACTURED TEETH-If a part of tooth is chipped or fractured due to an accidental fall, try to relocate the broken piece and immediately take it to a dentist who’ll try to seal the   broken piece of tooth back in the position using bonding agents. If not found still visit a dentist who will seal the enamel and thus prevent the further entry of bacteria. 

CHEEK/LIP BITING- If there is constant irritation or interference of lip or cheek while talking or chewing food, it can result into some amount of redness and rash on the inner surface. Prolonged negligence can result into swelling or infection. Immediate attention with prompt application of ice or consumption of a Popsicle can help in relieving the same if noticed early.

DENTAL PAIN- Whenever your child complains of severe toothache, rinse his mouth with warm water and inspect his/her teeth if nothing is stuck between them. If pain continues, use a cold compress to ease/relief the pain. Do not apply any kind of heat or topical pain reliever directly to the affected area which can cause damage to the gums.
